It's the elephant in the room: travel accounts for up to 90% of the carbon footprint of a concert. What can bands or organizers do to actively influence how their audience travels sustainably? The Changency & Crowd Impact's “TICKET TO RIDE” project, together with AnnenMayKantereit, explored exactly this in the summer of 2023. Rosa Hoelger shares exclusive insights and findings on which measures worked well, which ones worked less well, as well as band and fan favorites. And she reveals how many times the audience circled the globe for this tour alone...
Rosa Hoelger studied Sustainable Management at the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development and wrote her master's thesis on the sustainability of Berlin music venues. As a sustainability manager at The Changency, she develops strategies and concepts for more sustainability in the music and event industry. Among other things, she was involved in the implementation and evaluation of Plant A SEEED, the first scientific study on sustainability at major concerts in Germany. As co-project manager, Rosa supervised the “TICKET TO RIDE” project in cooperation with AnnenMayKantereit and Fridays For Future, which highlights the major levers for environmentally friendly visitor mobility.
